From 8 January 2025, new UK entry rules have come into place.
An ETA (electronic travel authorisation) is now required for travellers from 54 non-European countries to enter the UK. From the 2 April 2025, an ETA will be required for European travellers as well. Please click here for a list of countries.
Travellers do not need an ETA if:
- They have a visa (An ETA does not replace visa requirements)
- They have permission to live, work or study in the UK
- They are a British or Irish citizen
- They are travelling with a British overseas territories passports
- They live in Ireland and they are travelling from Ireland, Guernsey, Jersey or the Isle of Man
Please click here for the full UK Government guidance on ETA’s. This link can also be used to apply for an ETA but in addition to this, there are apps available to download from the App Store and Google Play.
The cost of an ETA is £10 and lasts for 2 years during which you can travel to the UK as many times as you want.
Please note that an ETA is also required for travellers transiting in the UK for onward travel.
We advise that the ETA application is made prior to booking travel as airlines and other providers may not provide refunds should the ETA application be declined.
If you have any questions about ETA and UK entry requirements, please reach out to the Inntel team on traveldesk@inntel.co.uk or your Client Relationship Manager who will be happy to help.
